Cota, Glenn-Old Dominion University, and Pomeroy, Larry-University of Georgia	Arctic Shelf and Basin Productivity	Authors/sources:  NODC 1998 CD, MEDS (Canada), Peter Strain, Peter Jones, Jim Swift, Leif Anderson, Rob Macdonald, Tim Siferd, Doug Wallace, William Balch, and others.  The bulk of these observations came from two major databases: 1) NODC s 1998 CD-ROM, and 2) comparable Canadian sources (MEDS and Peter Strain-BIO).  There is no specific attribution in the database beyond cruise number and country code, because most sources were not clear in the largest data source, NODC.	Filename:  Panarctic File type: Access2000 database format	Summary plots of panarctic station distributions by season and parameter, and preliminary results are posted at http://www.ccpo.odu.edu/~orca. Data are being submitted to the JOSS/ADCC database. Property Distribution Database description:  Profiles of temperature, salinity, oxygen, nitrate, silicate, phosphate, and/or chlorophyll have been assembled into a single pan-arctic database organized by cruise, station and profile.  Primary productivity observations were also included, but are very scarce.  Over 30,000 stations were examined, but <12,300 useful profiles were retained.   Derived  parameters (e.g. nutrient ratios, NO, PO, N*, and integrated values), and value- added products (e.g. production estimates based on oxygen supersaturation, nutrient depletion, and/or chlorophyll accumulation) have been incorporated into the database.  Sounding depths were absent or unreliable in many cases, so predicted depths, based on positional information, have been added to all stations from the new International Bathymetric Chart of the Arctic Ocean.

We have approximately 50 samples analyzed or in the process of being analyzed for the 228Ra/226Ra ratio of surface waters obtained during the SHEBA program (1998) and ship-of-opportunity (2000).
